Why You Need to Know Your Measurements When You Shop Online

The other way to make sure your clothes look good on you is to make sure they fit! Knowing your measurements will make ordering online SO. MUCH. EASIER. So here's a quick and dirty guide to learning your measurements, so you can stop guessing and wasting your money online!

Tips and Reminders for Measuring Yourself

First of all, don't forget: These numbers are not an indicator of your self-worth! If this means you have to get a different size, that's okay! Sizing across stores is wildly different, which means you might be a Medium at one store and a Large at the next. Don't worry too much about what the size tag says, as long as your measurements match what their chart says, you should be okay. Besides, it's better for you to feel confident in your outfit today instead of waiting for some far-off future.

Another useful tip: Use a cloth measuring tape that you can buy at any craft store or online. Measure yourself while wearing your normal undergarments so you'll know how things fit during the day. And again, these are just numbers! They are tools to help you feel your best and return fewer pieces!

Your Handy-Dandy Chart for Measuring Yourself

Below you'll find a visual chart for where to measure yourself. Most stores will have at least the chest, waist, and hips measurement listed, but it's also good to know the inseam if you're worried about pants being too long or too short.

Don't forget to enlist the help of a friend if you need it! You'll get a more accurate measurement that way.

Now that you know what to measure and how to measure, write it down somewhere so you don't forget. I have my measurements written down in my phone notes app, both in inches and centimeters (you never know!).

Knowing your measurements is going to change the way you shop online. It means you won't have to guess at your size, then be disappointed when it comes and it doesn't fit. Now you can shop online with confidence!
